Welcome to Miami, Bienvenido a Miami!

October 30th - Part I

This was the start to our first Back to Back Cruise.  It was a very early start to our morning.  We stayed at my parents house the night before as my dad was going to take us to the airport.  The alarms (yes, I set two) woke us up at 3:00 AM.  I got up first and woke up Jeremy to get up.  I got my dad up, and we left the house at 3:45 AM.  The drive to the airport was quiet. We got dropped off at terminal 3 and headed to the Westjet counter.  We got in line and then were informed we were in the wrong line and we were sent to another Westejet counter.  It wasn't open yet but there were people already in the line so we waited.  A few minutes later a Westjet employee asks where we are headed and then tells us we are still in the wrong line.  Even though we booked through Westjet, our flight was operated by American Airlines, so we need to go there.  Luckily it was the same terminal, but way down at the end.  So we picked up and moved to our third line of the morning.  I was very glad we left as early as we did because this morning wasn't seeming to go our way.  We made it to the correct line and lined up to do the self checkin, we got as far as scanning our passports and then we got the dreaded ERROR message.  We had to wait in a line to be checked in by someone.  By this time I was getting a tad frustrated, but I managed to stay calm.  We made it to the front of the line and got all checked in, got our bags tagged, and got our boarding passes.  Next stop was U.S. customs and security,  US customs was about to open so the line was very large.  Once we started moving the line was fairly quick.  Customs was all by computer, you scan your passports, answer a few questions and a piece of paper prints out.  You take the paper to one of the agents who check your passports, then you are on your way.  Very painless.  We turned the corner and went through security which was very very quick.  Then we found our gate.  Our gate had a Freshii open so we got a small breakfast, Jeremy got some OJ and a blueberry muffin and I got a coke zero and a chocolate banana loaf.  The flight was right on time so we boarded and took off by 6:30 AM.  Here is one of my few complaints of our entire trip, Jeremy likes to sit beside a window for flying, so we got him that seat, however the seat we ended up getting was a "window" seat with no window, just wall, it even came in a little bit so there was less room.  We were in the only row that had this and it was on both sides of the plane.  Lets just say we were very cramped, and Jeremy did not have a great flight.  However, I was able to fall asleep (napping is one of my best talents.)

We landed around 9:30AM, and made the long trek to baggage claim passed all the fancy stores in the Miami airport.  By the time we reached the carousel our bags were there waiting for us.  We got a taxi right away and we made our way to the B2 Miami. The cab ride was about $30 and that was with traffic, bad traffic.  We prechecked in as our room wasnt ready yet.  We checked our bags at the front desk and went to explore Bayside Mall.
