Happy Halloween

October 31 - Part I

I woke up at 7AM and couldn't get back to sleep because I was too excited.  I didn't want to get to the port super early as we already had the earliest check in time and the port wouldn't even be open yet. So I tried my best to stay put.  We left the hotel just after 10AM.  We originally planned to take the shuttle service offered by the hotel for 6$ a person, but when I called the front desk they informed me they didn't start until 11:30.  Well that wasn't going to do so we hailed a taxi cab.  The cost was $12 with tip so exactly the same as the shuttle.  We unloaded the taxi, handed our checked bags over and waiting in the line to get into the port.  There was a line but it wasnt anything huge.  At 10:30 they opened the doors and let people in.  They were making sure we all had proper documentation as we entered.  Security was a breeze, and they we got into the terminal, lined up for 30 seconds in the Castaway Club line and received our Keys To The World (KTTW) and received boarding Group 3!.

There is very little seating at the port, such a difference to Port Canaveral.

I was very excited and happy!

We looked over today's navigator.  Saw that in order to meet Anna and Elsa that we would have to go to the Port Adventure's desk when we board and receive a ticket. Our dinning rotation was TAAPT. I didn't request a specific dinning rotation this time.  I saw that there was a line forming to meet Mickey, so I abandoned Jeremy with all our stuff, took the camera and lined up.

I met Mickey, which made me giddy like a little kid. (I always love to meet characters.)  Behind me in line was a nice family who was enjoying their first cruise and behind them was the family from Calgary.

I returned to Jeremy and we waited about 40 more minutes then they announced the family of the day.  The Family of the day consisted of Spiderman and Batman (2 cute little boys all dressed up for Halloween).  Ten minutes later they announced boarding group 3 and we made out was up to the ship.  At the port of Miami you enter the ship for the running deck around Deck 4.  It was odd to enter the ship from Deck 4 instead of Deck 3 but I got over that quickly when they announced "Disney Wonder, Please welcome the Pitman Family!"  I was all smiles.  They had it set up that you couldn't use the two staircases in the atrium.  So you needed to walk all around deck 4 to the midship elevators and use the stairs there.  I headed to the Port Adventures desk and got us a ticket to meed Anna and Elsa tomorrow morning at 9 AM.  There was only one family in front of us, so nice and quick.  While I picked up the ticket Jeremy took some photos of the Halloween Decor.

Next stop was lunch.  We figured Beach Blanket Buffet (BBB) would be insane so we headed to Parrot Cay.  It was fairly empty when we got there and we had a lovely quiet lunch.  Here is pumpkin from the front of the restaurant.

I didn't take any pictures of the food, bad me!

After lunch we walked around the ship to get refamiliar with it.  Around Deck 5 we walked through the adult area.

Then we walked around the kids area.

By the time we finished exploring it was 1 PM, so only 30 minutes til our room was ready.  We found some nice comfy seats on deck 5 right at the atrium and watched different families board the ship.

Down the hall I could see Goofy walking around and I was able to get an awesome photo with him.

Our room was ready! We walked up the aft stairs to deck 6 and went to our new home for the next 9 days. Room 6138.  Here are some photos of our room and navigators balcony.

I unpacked the carryon and decorated our door.

Here is one of the lessons I learned during this trip. Magnet paper.  I had bought a pack from staples and it was there own brand.  Well after a few days things started to fall off the door.  The magnets I had from previous cruises, which were on Avery magnet paper stayed no problem.  So if you are making magnets use BRAND name paper and not the cheaper stuff.

Just a special thank you to everyone who designed magnets for our trip.  They turned out great! We didn't have any stolen, so I can reuse a few of them that weren't date specific for our next trip.

I went and sat out on our balcony and caught up in my cruise notes while Jeremy watched the end of Dumbo and Jungle Book.  I joined him and fell asleep watching Lady and the Tramp.
